At Computer Deal of the Day, we feature powerful systems every day at the best prices on the Internet. But a lot of readers ask me, "What system would you put together if price were no object?" So over the next few weeks, I will from time-to-time feature hot technology where power rather than price makes the feature a Deal of the Day.

I’m starting with the new this Apple Power Mac G5 Quad-core SuperDrive 2.5GHz
. I own a PowerMac G5 and mine is dual processor like the new Quad. What Apple had done (for starters) on this new system is they have replaced the single core PowerPc Processors with dual core. That means that the Quad has four processor cores operating together, turning the system into a lightening-fast graphic workstation.
The have also added dual hard drives and DDR2 SDRAM memory and PCI-Express Graphics, making everything about this system scream. After discussing the system at length they conclude: "That’s all well and good, but is it worth upgrading to the new G5 Quad? The answer is a resounding yes for those who need (and can justify) the power and expense. The dual G5 cores in each of the two CPUs push the G5 Quad to performance numbers we’ve never seen before. "
